Quarantine: Week 7

Quarantine: Week 7

The weather has been absolute garbage here this week. Every day it’s either cold, blustery winds, rain, sleet, or snow flurries. I think Spring was cancelled and no one told us. We’ve been stuck inside, so we’ve been cooking all of our favorite comfort foods to keep us warm and happy.

We had exactly ONE GLORIOUS DAY of sunshine, at the tail end of the week on Sunday. The finally weather turned and we made our annual spring planting trip to our favorite garden center

Flowers, veggies, herb garden starts, and lots of lawn supplies.

I guess the one upside of constant rain is super green grass and fuchsia rhododendrons (those last two words I had to google the spelling on).

I planted some salvia around the gazebo, for when the hummingbirds return. They’re migrating up from the South as I write this.

I bought these petunias because they look like exploding purple galaxies inside.

And this tree beside our shed, which I didn’t even know bloomed! According to Mike’s mom it’s Viburnum. It’s lilac-ish but with a slightly different shape and fragrance. I can’t wait to see it open!

We also planted a tomato plant and some hot peppers in containers, since we don’t have a garden space yet built. That will be our 2021 project. I also picked up some solar lights for the walkway too. We are in full backyard party mode now.

In two weeks, we’ll have the pool opened. We procured a pair of lounge chairs and a little table in expectation of swimming weather. It seems crazy to contemplate now, because we’re still getting snowfall, but eventually it has to stop and warm up. Right? Maybe by June?
